STEPS:

Go to properties of your CD drive by right click on CD drive and click on properties.
Go to “Recording” tab and check the option “Enable CD recording on this drive”.
Set the writing speed to “faster”. Click on ok.
Now your CD writing wizard is enabled.
Insert new CD-R or CD-RW in your CD drive.
Now select your data and copy it and paste in the CD drive. Files will be placed as temporary files.
In the left hand corner there will be option “Write these files to CD”. Click on that, it will open the CD writing wizard where you can change the CD name and then click on next.
After clicking on next the CD writing wizard would start writing files to CD.
Once the data is burnt to CD the CD would be ready to be ejected.

Drag any of the files you wish to protect into this window
Right click in this window on the white or vacant space, Go to "Add a password..." The password can be whatever you want it to be, but keep it easy to remember, but hard for hackers to guess.
Delete the private files that are anywhere else.
There you have it! Your very own password-protected folder.

Now your files are password protected now you can save any file which you were not saving just from the fear of the file to be shared…

How to Hack Gmail Notifier to Use SSL

A brief explanation as to how to make the Gmail Notifier open Gmail using SSL instead of normal HTTP. The steps should be pretty self-explanatory from the pictures included. This is useful to keep the notifier working if you chose the new Always HTTPS Gmail option.

STEPS:

Close Gmail Notifier.
Copy gnotify.exe and rename to copy to gnotify.exe.BAK for making a backup file for safety reason.
Open virtualdub, and then open the hex editor from Tools menu -> Hex editor... any hex editor can do this work. PSPad Editor is what I would use though.
In the hex editor, go to File -> Open, and browse to gnotify.exe (should be in C:\Program Files\Google\Gmail Notifier\).
Select gnotify.exe
De-select "Open as Read Only"
Use Ctrl+F and type http://mail.
Hit Enter, and you will see the URL that notify uses (the http:// one, not the https:// one above it, that seems to be just for logging in.)
Place your cursor on the colon (:) right after the "http" (again, not after "https") and just start typing.
Type out s://mail.google.com/mail/ which will reduce the number of periods between /mail/ and ?.u, but that's OK.
Save and restart gnotify.exe

STEPS:

Hold down the keys "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" all at the same time. A window will pop up, called "Windows Task Manager". If not, a window with various options will pop up; click on "Task Manager".
Click on the "Processes" tab
If you don't know which process you want, you can go to the "Applications" (left-most) tab, right-click on the window or program you want to speed up, and click on "Go to Process" - takes youright there!
Now right-click on the process you want to speed up.
Mouse over "Set Priority", OR just press the letter "p" on the keyboard, and click on the priority level you want for your program, OR, again, press the shortcut letter: L=Low, B=Below Normal, N=Normal, A=Above Normal, H=High, R=Realtime. (These are underlined in the pop-up window.)

these priority names are intuitively obvious; they mean just what they say.
the priority level starts out at "Normal", and stays there unless YOU change it.
the higher (or lower) you set the program's 'priority', the more (or fewer) system resources will be allocated to it, so it will run faster (or slower) than it did before. "Low", for example, is fine for a program running in background that you do not need to have finish up soon, so that more resources are freed up. "Realtime" is best for something that absolutely has to have maximum resources right now!

Click "yes" when a confirmation window pops up.
You can vastly speed up this three-stroke process of choosing the priority level by using the keyboard. Once you have right-clicked on the process, just hit the letter "p" to choose "Priority", then the letter that corresponds to your desired level (e.g., "A" for "Above normal"), then "Y" for "yes". A lot faster than mousing or clicking!

In Vista, go to your Search bar in your Start Menu; (In XP use: Run)
Regardless where you had to go; Type: regedit
Once it opens, go to (or you can use Find (Edit>Find):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\yahoo\pager\Test

Now, you might already see a DWORD value named Plural, if so, go to 11 -- Not all Yahoo Messenger installs do this, some do. If you don't see it, move on to the next step.
In that area, right click on the empty space
Once you've right clicked on the empty space, you'll see 'New' click on that.
Scroll down to DWORD 32 bit value
Click it.
Once it's made, name it Plural (if you didn't get to rename it when it was made, just right click and Rename it)
Right click on it, and click Modify.
Change the Value Data to 1 (default is 0) -leave everything else as is.
Click Ok
You're finished! Close the registry.

Go to the website and do not click the link yet but make sure you are a click away from the movie/object.
Click Tools>Internet Options>General then click delete files, this will delete all offline content.
Go to the flash object/movie.
Go back to Tools>Internet Options>General, click settings.
Click View files.
There should be a list of files, one of those files will be the flash object.

Mozilla Firefox

Go to the website with the flash or other embedded object you wish to download.
Click Tools > Page Info (Shortcut: Alt + T + I)
Click the "Media" tab and scroll through the objects on the page.
The "Type" column will help in many instances; Flashes, music and videos all appear as "Embeds"
Highlight the Flash and click "Save as" or copy the URL into a Download Manager.

CAUTION:

This will not work on Youtube Videos; The flash player links to a .flv file on the Youtube servers; if you want to download a youtube video, then get Firefox and the Video Downloader extension, and FLV player.

Source: SAVRT: Symantec Anti Virus Auto-Protect could not scan file for viruses due to low kernel stack." A common configuration for this situation is a Windows 2000 Server with Terminal Services in Remote Administration Mode with a combination of any of the following applications: Symantec Anti Virus Corporate Edition, St. Bernard Open File Manager, Quota Manager, Legato RepliStor, or other "filter drivers" that register with the Kernel Stack. The solution to this problem is as follows:

STEPS:

Boot up your PC.
Load windows in ADMINISTRATOR mode, a standard account (limited) will not work because you're modifying the system registry.
Open the Registry Editor. To do this press Windows-R (hold down Windows and press R) and enter (without the quotes) "regedit" and click OK.
In the left column in the Registry Editor, click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SYSTEM, then CurrentControlSet, then Services, then i8042prt, then Parameters (for the geeks, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters).
Click Edit -> New -> DWORD Value or DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Call the new value (without the quotes) "CrashOnCtrlScroll".
Change the value to 1 (0x00000001)
Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.
Hold down the right Control key then press the Scroll Lock key twice, then a blue screen should pop up.

Then after that click OK,
Then on the left panel right click WPAEvents, then click on permissions
Then click System or SYSTEM, then Deny Full Control, then Click OK.
Then Exit Registry Editor by Click the X or the red X on the Upper Right of the Title Bar or press ALT and F4 at the same time.
To Very that it works, go to start, then "activate windows", or go to start, then all programs, then "activate windows"

Organizations that worked only with one language typically chose to use only the localized versions.

Now with Windows Vista, the entire operating system is language-neutral. One or more language packs are added to this language-neutral core to create the image that is deployed (although only some versions of Windows Vista support multiple languages).

The image preparation process has also changed. With Windows XP, you would "Sysprep" a machine to prepare the reference operating system for deployment.

Windows Vista:

With Windows Vista, you'll still run Sysprep.exe (installed by default in C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep), which will "generalize" the machine for duplication.

This is a simple Easy to do Introduction on how to change your start button text,image, and hover text. This is a fun way to Spruce up your computer to your special touch!

STEPS:

First of all, make sure you download Resource Hacker.(See Ext. Links below to download Resource Hacker) You'll need this software to edit resources inside your Windows shell.
Locate explorer.exe in your c:\Windows directory. Make a copy of the file in the same directory and rename it explorer.bak.
Now launch Resource Hacker. In the File menu, open explorer.exe. You'll now see a bunch of collapsed folders.
Expand the String Table folder and then find folder No. 37 (folder No. 38 if you're in Windows Classic mode).
Click on resource 1033 and locate the text that says "Start." This is your Start button, and now you've got control over what it says! Change the "Start" text to your text of choice. You don't have a character limit, but the text takes up valuable taskbar space, so don't make it too long.
Click on the button labeled Compile Script. This updates the settings for your Start button. But nothing will happen until you restart (see "shutdown/startup process"), so keep going!

CHANGE YOUR HOVER TEXT:

While you're here, why not also change the text that pops up when your mouse hovers over your Start button?
Right now it says "Click here to begin." Well, duh! We already know that's where to begin!
Open folder No. 34 and click on resource 1033.
Find the text that says "Click here to begin" and change it to something cooler.
Click on the Compile Script button to update this resource.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR START ICON:

For an added bonus, you can also change the Windows icon to the left of the text, too.
Collapse the String Table folder and expand the Bitmap folder at the top of your folder list.
Click on folder No. 143 and click on resource 1033. You should see that familiar Windows icon.
Go to the Action Menu and select "Replace bitmap." Select "Open file with new bitmap", and locate the replacement image on your machine. Note: The image must have a .bmp extension and a size of 30 pixels by 30 pixels. Then click the Replace button.

SHUTDOWN/STARTUP PROCESS:

Now that you've made your changes, save the file in your Windows folder with another name, such as explorer2.exe. Don't name it Explorer.exe, because that file is already being used by your system. Close all open programs and restart your system.
Boot into Safe Mode With Command Prompt by pressing F8 on startup. Then choose Safe Mode in the command prompt.
Log on as administrator and enter your password.
When the command prompt comes up, make sure you're in the right directory by typing "cd c:\windows" (without the quotes).
Now type "copy c:\windows\explorer2.exe c:\windows\explorer.exe" (no quotes). Type "yes" (no quotes) to overwrite the existing file, then restart your system by typing "shutdown -r" (no quotes).
When Windows relaunches, you'll see your new Start button in all its glory!
An easier way to enable the new settings is to open task manager and end all instances of "explorer.exe" then click "save" in the Resource Hacker menu. At this point you might see a "Windows File Protection" popup. this is just telling you that the file was modified (which it was, by you)just click "cancel" then "ok". the final step is to open up task manager then click on "new task" then enter "c:\windows\explorer2.exe" (all without quotes) and you should see your changes.

How to Change a Windows XP Lost Password

So, Lost your Windows XP password, have you? Or much, MUCH worse, you lost the password to your main Computer Administrator! Don't worry- I'll tell you what to do!

STEPS:

Before anything else, if you have lost the password of a regular user, ask the computer administrator. If the computer administrator isn't available at the time, you can do the next best thing. Note that you'll have to use the command window.
If you CAN log on to another account, skip to step 4. If not, go to the next step.
You have to reboot your computer. However, press F8 before it has completely booted, so another black screen shows up. In that black screen, use the arrows up and down to scroll options, the option you want to choose is: "Safe Mode with Command Prompt". Press enter to select that option. Hang in a second. Give it some time to boot; this can take longer than your usual boot-process. When it has booted, you will see the same black screen as in CMD. Go to step 5.
If you can log on to another account, you should log in to that account and open the "START" menu. Now, click on "RUN", and type cmd. A black screen will pop up.
In the command screen, you'll have to type "net user", followed by the account name that needs password recovery. followed by " *". Note the space between the username and the star. (e.g. "net user bob *")
Type in your new password. (You will NOT see any characters) Press enter, and repeat the password.
Your password should be changed. Note that if you repeated the passwords with errors it will still say "The command completed successfully". Therefore, if it did not work, try doing it again. If you used another account on your computer to do this, go to step 3 and try that method.

TIPS:

A good thing to do is create a password reset disk. The Forgotten Password Wizard lets you create a password reset disk that you can use to recover your user account and personalized computer settings if you forget your password.
The steps to perform this task differ depending on whether your computer is a member of a network domain or is part of a workgroup (or is a stand-alone computer).
If your computer is on a domain

Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Windows Security dialog box.
Click Change Password.
Click Backup to open the Forgotten Password Wizard.
Click Next and then follow the instructions as they appear on the screen.

If you are not on a domain but have a computer administrator account

Open User Accounts in Control Panel.
Click your account name.
Under Related Tasks located on the left side of the window, click Prevent a forgotten password.

Getting started with programming in C++

Probably the best way to start learning a programming language is by writing a program so in this tutorial I am going to tell how can you start writing the simple program.

STEPS:

#include <iostream>

Lines beginning with a hash sign (#) are directives for the preprocessor. They are not regular code lines with expressions but indications for the compiler's preprocessor. In this case the directive #include <iostream> tells the preprocessor to include the iostream standard file. This specific file (iostream) includes the declarations of the basic standard input-output library in C++, and it is included because its functionality is going to be used later in the program.

int main ()

This line corresponds to the beginning of the definition of the main function. The main function is the point by where all C++ programs start their execution, independently of its location within the source code. It does not matter whether there are other functions with other names defined before or after it - the instructions contained within this function's definition will always be the first ones to be executed in any C++ program. For that same reason, it is essential that all C++ programs have a main function.

The word main is followed in the code by a pair of parentheses (()). That is because it is a function declaration: In C++, what differentiates a function declaration from other types of expressions are these parentheses that follow its name. Optionally, these parentheses may enclose a list of parameters within them.
Right after these parentheses we can find the body of the main function enclosed in braces ({}). What is contained within these braces is what the function does when it is executed.

cout << "Hello World!";

This line is a C++ statement. A statement is a simple or compound expression that can actually produce some effect. In fact, this statement performs the only action that generates a visible effect in our first program.
cout represents the standard output stream in C++, and the meaning of the entire statement is to insert a sequence of characters (in this case the Hello World sequence of characters) into the standard output stream (which usually is the screen).
cout is declared in the iostream standard file within the std namespace, so that's why we needed to include that specific file and to declare that we were going to use this specific namespace earlier in our code.
Notice that the statement ends with a semicolon character (;). This character is used to mark the end of the statement and in fact it must be included at the end of all expression statements in all C++ programs (one of the most common syntax errors is indeed to forget to include some semicolon after a statement).

return 0;

The return statement causes the main function to finish. return may be followed by a return code (in our example is followed by the return code 0). A return code of 0 for the main function is generally interpreted as the program worked as expected without any errors during its execution. This is the most usual way to end a C++ console program.

Here cin command is used to for input the data and int a,b,sum; is used to define three variables a,b and sum. In cout<<”\n sum=”<<sum; the sum which is without the inverted commas is for output data. the data which we have to show in output is put without the inverted commas. With just changing the operation sign we can now make the program for subtraction, multiplication and division program.

How to make a Window (an application)

Ever wonder how programs like Paint or Calculator are made? Well, learn how to create a basic application using this step-by-step guide.

STEPS:

Get a compiler. A compiler transforms your raw source code (which you will soon write) into an executable application. For the purpose of this tutorial, get DEV-CPP IDE.
After installing DEV-CPP, open it. You will be presented with a window with a text area where you will write your source code.
Get ready to write a program to display text in a textbox. Before you begin writing the source, keep in mind that Win32 applications don't behave in the same way as other languages, such as JAVA.
In the main screen of DEV-CPP, go to File -> New -> Project. You will be presented with another screen. Choose the little picture which says "Windows Application" and set the language as "C", not "C++." At the text box where it says "Name", enter "SimpleProgram." Now, DEV-CPP will ask you where you wish to save it. Save the file in any directory, but just be sure to remember it. As soon as you are done with that, you will be presented with a template on the source screen. Do Ctrl+A and then Backspace. The reason we are doing this is so that we can begin anew.
At the begin of your source, type "#include <windows.h>" (without the quotes). This includes the windows library so that you can make an application. Directly beneath that, write:

#include "resource.h" And then type: const char g_szClassName[] = "myWindowClass";

Write one method to handle all the messages and write another method where we will handle the messages from the resources. Don't worry if this is confusing. It will become clear later on. Now, save your source as SimpleProg.c. We will be leaving it as is for the moment.
Make a Resource Script. A Resource Script is a piece of source code which defines all your controls (e.g: TextBox, Buttons, etc.) You will incorporate your Resource Script into your program and Voila! You will have a program. Writing the Resource Script isn't hard, but can be time consuming if you don't have a Visual Editor. This is because you will need to estimate the exact X and Y coordinates of the controls, etc. In your DEV-CPP main screen,

go to File -> New -> Resource File.

DEV-CPP will ask you "Add resource file to current Project?" Click YES. At the top of your resource script, type

#include "resource.h", and also type #include <afxres.h> This takes care of all the controls.

Make your first control: a simple menu. Type:
- IDR_THEMENU MENU
- BEGIN
- POPUP "&File"
- BEGIN
- MENUITEM "E&xit", ID_FILE_EXIT

The "IDR_THEMENU" part defines your menu as THEMENU. You can call it whatever you want, however. The BEGIN part is self explanatory. The POPUP "&File" makes a new menu catagorey called File. The & sign allows the user of your application to type Ctrl+F on the keyboard and quickly access your menu :) The MENUITEM "E&xit", ID_FILE_EXIT adds a menuitem to the File catagorey. You must, however, define the menuitem by doing ID_FILE_EXIT.
Now for the button part. Your button will be inside a dialog, so we must make the dialog first. Do this by typing:

The IDD_SIMPLECONTROL defines your dialog. The four numbers after the word "DIALOG" determine x-pos, y-pos, width, and height of the dialog. Don't worry too much about the Style part for now. The MENU IDR_THEMENU puts our old menu into the program. The CAPTION speaks for itself as does the font. The DEFPUSHBUTTON creates our button named "Hello!" and we define it by saying ID_HELLO and give it x-pos and y-pos and width and height coordinates.
That's it! We're done with our resource script. Only one more thing remains. We have to assign values to all the things we defined in our resource script (e.g. IDR_THEMENU, etc.) Save the resource file as SimpleProg.rc
Go to File -> New -> Source File. Add the source file to the current project? Yes. You will be presented with a blank screen. To assign values to our defined controls, we give them numbers. It doesn't matter too much on which numbers you give your controls, but you should make them organized. For example, don't define a control by giving it a random number like 062491 or something. So type:
- "#define IDR_THEMENU 100"
- "#define ID_FILE_EXIT 200"
- "#define IDD_SIMPLECONTROL 300"
- "#define ID_HELLO 400"
Save this file as resource.h Do you remember we did "#include "resource.h""? Well, this is why we did it. We needed to assign values.
Get back to the source, our SimpleProg.c or whatever you called it. Type:

How to Create a Swing GUI in Java

First, you need to know the basic java concepts of object and interface. We assume that you already know this - if no, you need to start from something like "how to learn java".

This article explains how to create simple application that is show in the figure on the left, giving its source code as well.

To place buttons, text labels and other components on the program window, you need to understand about JPanel. It is a kind of container for components, which occupies the rectangular piece on the screen and shows the components arranged in some simple way. How exactly the components are arranged, depends on which layout have you set to that panel. For the manual programming you will likely need to know at least the BorderLayout which places four components at the sides and one large component into the middle, then the FlowLayout which usually arranges them side by side into horizontal row and finally the GridLayout which arranges components into arbitrary n * m table. There are more of them, but others seem too complex for beginners. The key idea here is that a "component" can be not just a button or check box - it can also be another JPanel. You can get a complex user interface by just putting panels one inside another and choosing the layouts for them.

Once you have an instance of JPanel, call the .setLayout method to set the layout and then the .add method to add the components to it and . For the BorderLayout, you need to give the location as a second parameter. For instance, call myPanel.add(myButton, BorderLayout.North) to place your buttom at the top edge.

The top level container, which appears on the screen representing java application, is not a JPanel but JFrame. Call myJFrame.getContentPane().add(myJPanel, BorderLayout.Center) to add your main panel to the instance of JFrame.

To make your application to do more than just appear you also need to understand the ActionListener interface. Every non-abstract ActionListener has a single method, actionPerformed, which is called automatically when the user makes an "action" with the component on which the listener is registered (the action with button is, obviously, pressing it). To register action listener for the button or other component, call the method.

STEPS:

Making the Overall Frame

Create a class that extends the JFrame class. This class will hold all of your GUI components, such as buttons and textfields.
Plan the overall layout of your first application. A good start could be a central panel with BorderLayout with another panel at the bottom (BorderLayout.South). This second panel may have the FlowLayout and contain several buttons, check boxes and other similar controls. Finally, place the bigh JTextArea into the center of the central component. You will be able to use its getText() and setText() methods to do some text-based interaction with the user.
Write constructor to your class. This constructor must create all panels and components you plan, place them properly into each other and add the final panel the "holds all" to you frame (myFrame.getContentPane().add(myLargePanel, BorderLayout.Center).
Write the main method which will be the program's entry point. In this method, create an instance of your frame, set the intial size and location (use .setSize(x,y)and .setLocation(width, height) ) and make it to appear on the screen by calling .setVisible(true).

Programming responses to the user actions

Make your frame implement the ActionListener interface. This will allow your class to listen to components' activities.
For every button, check box or other control that you have created, invoke its method .addActionListener, passing your frame (this) as parameter.
Override ActionListener's abstract method, actionPerformed(ActionEvent event). In this method, you should put if statements checking where does the action event come from. This if statement should have a condition that says something like "if (event.getSource() == button1)". This checks where the event came from and if it came from your button. Inside the if statement, do whatever needs to be done when your button is pressed.
JTextArea has a method .setText("myText") which seems good as the way to program some visible response on your action.

TIPS:

It is not much more difficult to implement the MouseListener interface and use .addMouseListener to register it to any component.
If you want to draw your own graphical objects (like chessboard), read about the Canvas component. It can be placed into your application like any other, but you need to write method .paint which is fully responsible for drawing it.
If you need to ask some input string from the user, call the static method JOptionPane.showInputDialog(this, "My message"). The first parameter must be your application frame or some panel (the input box will appear in the center of the parent). The method returns the value that user enters into the dialog box.
In many practical applications the most useful Swing component is JTable. After you master the basic, proceed directly to it.
It is possible to put all components into single panel using GridBagLayout, but this class is more difficult to master.

If you've ever wondered how to create a torrent, you've come to the right place. This article will explain how to create a torrent and use it to upload whatever you want to people all over the world!

STEPS:

Investigate your torrent client. Most up-to-date clients can make torrents, some may not be able to. For a client that can create torrents try µTorrent for Windows, Transmission for Mac or Deluge for Linux.
Select the option to make a new torrent file. This is usually located under the File menu and named "Create New Torrent" or something of the same meaning. If it is not in this location try looking under other menus or the toolbars. If you are still uncertain, check the official website of your client for more details.
Select the files you wish to be in the torrent. If you will have several files consider arranging them all first in a folder, so you can simply select that folder to use as the torrent contents. The name of your torrent file will usually be the name of the file or folder in it. You can easily rename the file afterwards.
Enter a tracker. A tracker controls the transfer of data for your torrent. A tracker looks similar to an ordinary URL. A list of trackers is available here. If you want to index your torrent on a torrent downloads website then you should use the tracker owned by that website, as not all indexing sites will allow external trackers. If you are using a private tracker (You probably are not.) then be sure to tick the box to mark it as private. Do not tick this box otherwise.
Add any additional information. You can add a comment for the torrent if you wish. The piece size should be left at the automatic setting unless you know what you're doing. Once you have filled in all the required areas create your torrent. You may be asked where to save and what to call the .torrent file, or you may have been asked beforehand.
Now that you have your torrent file open it ready for seeding. Some clients have a seed mode specifically for this. If you do not seed your torrent it will be useless because nobody can download your files.
Share your torrent. If you are making the torrent so you can send a friend a file, just send them the .torrent file. If you want it open to the public to download you are best listing it on a torrent download website. Once on such a site find the link to add or upload a new torrent and fill in the required information. You will probably be required to register if you have not already. Once people start downloading the torrent off you it will gather more and more seeders. If you wish you can stop seeding once the torrent is "stable" or continue.

TIPS:

When submitting your torrent on a website, give it a descriptive title and description and place it in the best category. This way it will be found more easily. Check the comments for your torrent incase other users have questions regarding your torrent.

C++ is an high level language which was developed by Bjarne Stroustrup in 1985 at Bell Labs in America as an enhancement to the C programming language. C++ was developed to implement the concepts of ‘data abstraction’ one of the concept of classes which was not possible in C.

C++ is widely used in the software industry. Some of its application domains include systems software, device drivers, embedded software, high-performance server and client applications, and entertainment software such as video games. Several groups provide both free and commercial C++ compiler software, including the GNU Project, Microsoft, Intel, Borland and others.

The language began as enhancements to C, first adding classes, then virtual functions, operator overloading, multiple inheritance, templates, and exception handling among other features. These all functions were not possible in C.

Make sure that their is no SHR file in that if their is then it may be a virus. Here S stands for system, H stands for hidden and R stands for read only file.
Their is no need of any system files in USB Drives so the file having s status is surely a virus.

Now to remove these viruses we have to type attrib –s –h –r and the file name and then press enter and then write del and the file name. For example if their is autorun.inf as a virus then we will remove it as attrib –s –h –r autorun.inf and press enter then del autorun.inf

Basically programming is divided into two parts , First- Technical which consists of instructions which we give in the programs and the Second deals with the conceptual in which we work upon the idea which we have to perform and the best programming is that which can fulfill these two requirements in a very simple way.

Is your web site running slow? Do web pages take forever to load? It may not be your computer or even the server at the other end. Instead it might be a network issue along the way.

STEPS:

WINDOWS STEPS:

Click Start.
Click Run. From here a box will open.
Type in the box "cmd" without quotes. Now the command prompt will open. Here you can type various commands to do different things.
Now that the command prompt is open, type in "tracert www.example.com" without quotes and replace www.example.com with the site/server you want to trace to.
You will see each 'HOP' along the path to the site/server. On each line there will be three durations (in milliseconds) to each hop along with the domain name of that device and it's IP address.

You will see something like:

Sometimes we need to add new fonts to our system as per according to choice of user. This is a quick guide on how to download and install fonts on a Microsoft Windows PC.

STEPS:

Search for fonts on the Internet. There are many online font libraries, as well as individual sites that may have a small collection of fonts. Some will change a flat rate, some will charge a monthly fee, and others charge by the individual font. Although they do exist, very few online font libraries will offer free fonts. Some will even offer free, individual font downloads, while charging a flat fee for downloading their entire collection in one compressed file. or simply goto www.1001freefonts.com for downloading free fonts.
Download the fonts or collection of fonts you want to the Desktop or other folder you'll remember. If you know someone with a good collection of public domain fonts, ask them to copy their fonts for you.
Extract the compressed file(s) if your download file has a ".zip", ".rar", or other compressed file extension. Have them extracted into your 'Fonts' folder (typically: "C:\WINDOWS\Fonts").
Browse to the "Fonts" folder by opening "Windows Explorer" (Windows' default file browser), or navigate to it by opening "My Computer".
Sort the file listing by clicking on the "Date Modified" column header.
Locate the font(s) installed by the current date and time.
Double-click on each font to view a sample of it.
Delete any fonts you don't want by right-clicking on them and selecting "Delete". Alternatively, highlight the fonts you don't want by clicking once on them, the pressing the key. Hold down or while clicking to highlight multiple fonts at one time. Now you'll be able to use these new fonts within applications.
You may need to refresh your fonts by rebooting your computer so that your new downloads will work.

TIPS:

Only install the fonts you want. The performance of a Windows system will degrade with too many fonts installed. Typically 300 or less fonts on a Windows PC will not affect performance much, but a thousand fonts will significantly degrade system performance.
For Windows XP, 2000, and Vista users, you must be an administrator to install fonts.

STEPS:

Type win+r to open run application launching window and then type regedit (then enter) to start the registry editing program. The registry editor should start.

POSSIBLE EDITS

Uninstall Programs Manually

Just because Windows XP has the Add/Remove Programs feature it doesn't mean your application will appear in the list. Furthermore, even if it does appear, it's no guarantee that the uninstall feature will work. When you run across one of these situations the items listed below will help in getting rid of the application. Be aware that these steps may not remove everything associated with the application and can impact other applications on the computer. Have a backup or restore point and use caution.
Find the directory for the application and delete all the files in the directory. Delete the directory.
Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
- To remove the application entry from Add/Remove Programs (if present), open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
- Some applications have Services attached to them. If this is the case, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services, locate and delete the service.
In Windows Explorer, navigate to the individual user settings and delete program references. Common places to check would be:
- C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs and delete relevant entries.
- C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete relevant entries.
- C:\Documents and Settings\%YourUserID%\Start Menu\Programs and delete relevant entries. [Do this for each User ID listed]
- C:\Documents and Settings\%YourUserID%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete relevant entries.[Do this for each User ID listed]
If no entries were found in the previous step and the application launches automatically, navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows and delete the entry.

Move Location of History Folder

By default, History files (the URL to sites that you have visited, organized by day) are stored at in the folder %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\History. You can redirect these files to any folder using the following Registry changes:
- Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\UserShellFolders
- Name: History
- Data Type: REG_SZ
- Value: path to new folder

Clear Pagefile on Shutdown

When Windows shuts down, it leaves the pagefile intact on the hard drive. Some programs may store sensitive information in clear text format in memory (which in turn may be paged out to disk). You may wish to empty this file for security reasons, or to help speed a boot time defrag, or because you dual boot, and you don't want to share the file, or just as part of troubleshooting a problem. Making the following registry change (or create the following entry) will clear your page file when rebooting.
- Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- Key: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory
- Management
- Name: ClearPageFileAtShutdown
- Data Type: REG_DWORD
- Value: 1

Disable Changing Passwords

If, for some reason, you decided that you didn't want users of a Windows 2000 computer to be able to change their password unless prompted to, you can make this Registry change to implement that:
- Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
- Name: DisableChangePassword
- Data Type: REG_DWORD
- Value: 1
A value of 0 means they can change their password whenever they want to. A value of 1 means that users will not be able to change their password unless prompted (by the password expiring, or by the box next to "User Must Change Password at Next Logon" being checked). Please use caution and frequent backups when working with the Registry.

Get Rid of Shared Documents

New to Windows XP is a "Shared Documents" folder that appears in My Computer. This is really just a pointer to another area on disk. You can keep this from appearing by deleting the following Subkey from the Registry:
- Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- Key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\My
  Computer\NameSpace\DelegateFolders
- Subkey: {59031a47-3f72- 44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee}
- Delete the whole Subkey and all that it contains.
You may wish to right-click this Subkey and export it before deleting it, just to be safe. This also will prevent the current users "My Documents" from showing up in the same area of My Computer. Use caution and frequent backups when editing the Registry.

Shutdown XP Faster

When a user shuts down Windows XP, first the system has to kill all services currently running. Every once in a while the service does not shut down instantly and windows give it a change to shut down on its own before it kills it. This amount of time that windows wait is stored in the system registry. If you modify this setting, then windows will kill the service earlier. To modify the setting, follow the directions below:
- Start Regedit.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control.
- Click on the "Control" Folder.
- Select "WaitToKillServiceTimeout"
- Right click on it and select Modify.
- Set it a value lower than 2000 (Mine is set to 200).

- Like previous versions of windows, it takes long time to restart or shutdown windows
xp when the "Exit Windows" sound is enabled. To solve this problem you must disable this useless sound. Click start button then go to settings -> control panel -> Sound, Speech and Audio devices -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Sounds, then under program events and windows menu click on "Exit Windows" sub-menu and highlight it. Now from sounds you can select, choose "none" and then click apply and ok. Now you can see some improvements when shutting down your system.

Warnings

Editing the registry can be very dangerous, and can cause permanent damage to your system!
Write down the your changes and initial values. You may need to restore the registry as it was.
Registry editing may not be possible in some Windows versions.
A few words about clearing the pagefile on shutdown. Doing this has no performance benefits whatsoever. This does not delete the file but overwrites every byte with zero's. A boot time defrag will not be sped up by doing this. Clearing the pagefile is sometimes done as a security measure. But unless it is a part of a well thought out security policy it will avail you little. There are many other ways to obtain access to sensitive data and most of them require less effort. It should also be noted that this will considerably lengthen shutdown times.

A game mod is a modification of a game that changes its properties. This how-to shows you how to customize your game with little or no programming.

STEPS:

Locate the game folder, which is usually in "C:\Program Files\", and find common file types to replace.
Use Notepad or another text editor to modify an .ini file (e.g. gunAmmo(26) to gunAmmo(255)). Some .dat * .cfg files can also be modified, but don't try it if you see a bunch of funny symbols
Use Paint or another graphics editor to modify image files. These include files with the extensions .bmp (bitmap), .gif (Graphics Interchange Format), .png (portable network graphics), and .jpeg (Joint Photographic Experts Group), among others. Usually these image files are textures to be mapped to certain surfaces or pictures to be used on the game's intro or setup screens.
Replace .wav (wave), .mp3 (mpeg3), and .ogg (ogg vorbis) sound and music files with your own. These are audio files that are used for music tracks or sound effects inside a game.

TIPS:

Learn a bit about programming, variables, and hexadecimal. This will help in editing files.
.ini files, though they are very useful for game modding, are rarely seen, because programs these days now store their configuration settings in the Windows Registry.
Use google to find mods for your game. There are usually whole websites devoted to modding games. They also (sometimes) have special tools and forums.

How to Make an Animated Favicons

A favicon is the icon which is found in most URL address bars and which may be duplicated in bookmarks, on bookmark tool bars, and tab bars. An animated favicon is a series of single static favicons which are slightly changed, and when run in series are animated, like film, and are put on one's website. Animated favicons are brand new and may only work with the latest Firefox, some Mozilla and Netscape browsers.

STEPS:

Create a folder on desktop named 'Animation'. Put in it your favicon maker such as 'Edit32' or 'IconArt'. Make any number of favicons; keep it simple to begin with, such that each accomplishes the change on wishes like 1 2 3 4. In this method, these must be saved as (.gif files) and give each a name in series. If they are in (.ico) one needs an extension converter like IrfanView.
Get a gif Animator Compiler, or this case you may want two. The compiler puts each of your single favicon files into a single gif file, which is to be put on the web page server. This is a completely new field so programs and information are scarce. Download the free '11view 3.0a' for viewing and positioning your favicon series. However it does not work well for animated on-line favicons, and does not loop as continuous play. But it is great for viewing and organizing your favicon animations and assigning them times, where 200 is about a second.
Download free 'UnFREEze 2.1' as the actual compiler. Slide your favicons in proper order into the window. Highlight each and assign times to each frame, check loop or not, compile and name and save to your folder.
Past this compiled gif file into your html folder in html editor. It can be put in your favicon folder or a new one created for animations. Address each html page in which it is to appear. The static favicon code is left in place since many browsers don't show animations as <link rel="icon" href="Folder/Favicon.ico">. Underneath is placed animation code such as
<link rel="icon" href="Folder/Animation.gif"> or
<link rel="icon" href="Folder/Animation.gif" type="image/gif">.
On FTP transfer protocol, transfer or create Folder for .gif file and transfer it and .gif file to server-side. Transfer html pages containing animation code to server.

Yes thats right. You can lock any folder without using any software. Follow these steps.
1.Suppose you have a folder named abcd in D:\abcd.

2.In the same drive next to the folder create a new notepad file with the exact statement
ren abcd abcd.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

3.Now save this text file as loc.bat

4.Create another notepad file and type
ren abcd.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} abcd

5.Save this as key.bat

6.Now there are two batch files . Double click loc.bat and your folder will change into Control Panel and its contents cannot be viewed .

7.To open the folder double click key.bat and you get back your original folder .

8.For more safety keep the key.bat in another location .Only for unlocking copy paste to the original location and double click .

The Trojan Virus can be very common so you should keep your computer protected with Norton or Macafee Virus Program. The paid version in Norton will kill the virus completely but in Macafee, the free version will only stop the Trojan Horses. If the Trojan horses did invade then you will need to know some C++ stuff to stop it. There is a certain code you will need to know to keep all the boxes from appearing. The effect after the horses drastically slows your computer. While your computer is going slow you may see a shield next to the clock at the bottom right corner and it will occasionally turn into a question mark. It is a scam and by clicking on it you are downloading more of the after Trojans or Trojan spies (they slow your computer)To stop the spies in their tracks follow the steps.

STEPS:

Go to the start button and then go to accessories.
Look for System Tools.
Go to the little box that says system restore and click on it. Hold your mouse over it.
Note that a new window appears with a button Restore Computer to an earlier time.
Click next then a calender will appear choose a date before you got the virus and continue.
Notice that your computer will restart and return to the condition it was in on the you selected.
Understand that if it does not, then go to Programs, select system restore, and all the files on your computer should be erased.

TIPS:

System restore is only available in Microsoft's Windows Me, XP and Vista operating systems.
If something tells you what file or folder the virus is in then go to my computer and delete the folder.
If your computer lags just wait for it to smooth out.

Opening anything besides what I told you to open may damage your computer.

How to Break a BIOS Password

Have you ever been locked out of an old computer by a forgotten BIOS password? There's no need to get frustrated. It is relatively easy to bypass this safeguard.

STEPS:

Desktop

Power off the computer and make sure that it is unplugged.
Open up your computer case. You need physical access to the motherboard to complete this procedure.
Find a circular, (mostly) silver metallic object on the motherboard. This is the CMOS battery.
CAREFULLY remove the CMOS battery, avoid touching it with your fingers, and leave it out for about 120 seconds. This will flush the CMOS memory which stores the BIOS password and all other configuration. (See Warnings)
Set the battery back into place and power on the computer.
The computer should then warn you that the CMOS configuration could not be found. You can either reconfigure it yourself or restore defaults. Restoring the default configuration should be fine.
You will notice that the BIOS password has been cleared and you can boot without it. You may reset the BIOS password to something else by going into the BIOS configuration and setting a new User Password (The Supervisor Password controls access to the BIOS, NOT the computer!)

Laptop

Remember that laptops can be trickier, especially if it's a newer model. If it has a security chip on the motherboard forget about it. You either have to physically remove the chip or contact the mfg for the "master" password. If you can boot up off of a cd or floppy try any of these methods:
Create a Win98SE bootable media "or anything that lets you boot into MS-DOS" and boot off of it.
When the A:\> prompt appears type debug and press enter.
You will then only see a "-".
Type o 70 2E "include the spaces" and press Enter.
Type o 71 ff "include the spaces" and press Enter.
Type q and press Enter.
Here are a list of common mfg backdoor passwords:

TIPS:

Depending on the manufacturer of your motherboard, you may be able to use what it is called a "backdoor password" to bypass the password problem. Try looking at the external links for possible passwords.
Remember that passwords are Case Sensitive. The last two passwords in the AWARD BIOS list are in Russian.
Sometimes the bios reset jumper has a "handle" and is colored a bright color to make it easy to locate. Also, look in your case near the bottom. If it is a manufactured computer then it probably came with a little sticker with the jumpers and the location of the reset jumper.

WARNINGS:

In rare cases, the battery may be soldered into the motherboard and very difficult to remove. If this is true, you may need to find a jumper near the battery that achieves the same result. If you don't know which jumper it is, you CAN test them all. Unplug (really unplug, not just power off) the computer, and start a methodical change in all the jumpers positions, change one, count to ten, change it back, move on the next. After completing the lot of them (on older motherboards this could take a while) plug the PS back in, and boot up. You may risk damaging your computer with this procedure if you are not careful.
Some notebooks such as IBM's ThinkPad render useless when the BIOS password is being tried to reset.
Don't just start pulling jumpers on the motherboard. Make sure you know where it was and in what position in case anything goes wrong put it back.
If you turn your computer on and it makes strange noises / beeps, you should contact the vendor, manufacture, or a tech guy to fix it.

log in to your gmail account via - http://gmail.com. Once you are logged in minimize this internet browser window ( convenient or later on )
load up msn messenger and cancel any automatic signed in attempt so that you have it ready to signed in with your gmail account later on .
You will need to visit the Microsoft .Net Passport website - http://www.passport.net
Now you will need to click on the register for your free .net passport today button that is in the top right hand corner of the page you cant miss it its huge
That will take you to a registration page fill in the from as you would if you where filling a hotmail account accept when asked for your email account you would enter myaccount@gmail.com
Once the registration of you .net registered gmail account has been made , signed in to Msn messenger using this newly registered account , you will notice that when you signed in to messenger your messenger name will be youraccount@gmail.com (un verified ) and you wont be able to change it , this is solved below.
As soon as you have signed in , a message will appear in an information box ( the same as when a contact signed in ) , click on this and you will be taken though the process of Verifying your account the reason you have to go though this is because at current gmail is not affiliated with .net passport e.g .net passport doesn't recognize the @gmail.com as a valid email provider there for they cannot automatically verify your account ( hotmail and msn auto verify as there .net passport affiliated websites) ,
Once u have been taken though the verification process you will be asked to log in to your email account and visit the url given in an email form the .net passport verification service , maximize the internet browser window that you signed in to gmail on earlier , you will have 2 emails form .net passport the first will be welcoming you to .net passport , the second will be the one we are after , the verification email , open this up find the url to finish verifying your email address ( usually its either the first to thirs url in the email)
Once you have completed these actions and you have been told that your gmail account is verified , signed out of msn messenger , then re signed back in ( you don't need to wait for any period of time just signed out then straight back in again) , you will now notice the (not verified) had been removed form your msn name , and now you are able to change ther name to , if this is so m, then congratulations you now have a fully functioning .net passport gmail account ( you cannot access your gmail email account via msn messenger you will still have to visit the gmail login page for this )

How to Make Your Windows Run Faster

Is your computer bogging down and getting slow? This article explains how to clean it up without having to reinstall Windows.

STEPS:

1. Backup your files

Backup any files you want to keep. The easiest way to do this is to copy your entire profile folder (C:\Documents and Settings\username) to a CD/DVD, iPod, USB flash drive, or external hard drive. This folder contains all of your files and settings.

2. Create a new user account and delete the old one

Open the Control Panel and select "User Accounts"
Create a new user account
Log out of your old account and into the new account
Repeat Step 1 and delete your old account - make sure to select "Delete Files"

3. Uninstall any unused programs

Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs

4. Clean up and optimize your hard drive

Run Disk Cleanup (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup)
Run Disk Defragmenter (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter)

5. Increase Widows Memory Performance

Open the Control Panel and select "System"
Select "Advanced-> Perform -> Select the 3rd option (Increase perform)"

TIPS:

It is best to reinstall Windows, because it will erase everything on your computer and return it to factory condition. If you don't want to do this, follow the steps above.
If you don't want your files to be recovered, use a file wipe utility or overwrite the data with as many files as possible (such as music).
The safest option is to purchase a new hard drive and destroy the old one. You will then have to reinstall Windows.

How to shutdown in a single click

Did you know that in Windows XP you can shut down your computer from the (eventually DOS prompt) command line box? Moreover, you can do this by clicking your mouse only once.

All you need to do is... right-click on an empty Desktop spot -> select New -> Shortcut -> type shutdown followed by a space, and then enter one or more of the parameters listed below -> click Next -> type a suggestive name for your new shortcut -> finally, click Finish.

This is the Shutdown.exe (located in %systemroot%\System32, usually C:\Windows\System32) syntax:

shutdown [-i|-l|-s|-r|-a] [-f] [-m \\computername] [-t xx] [-c "Text"] [-d[u][p]:xx:yy]

Valid command line switches:

-a = Abort system shutdown in progress ONLY IF the -t xx timeout option was already set to ANY value other than 0. ALL switches except -l and -m are ignored during abort.

-c "Text" = Text comment (case insensitive) to be displayed in the Message area of the System Shutdown window. MUST be enclosed between quotes. Maximum allowed 127 ASCII characters.

-d [u][p]:xx:yy = Reason code for shutdown:
u = User code.
p = Planned shutdown code.
xx = Major reason code. Positive integer number less than 256.
yy = Minor reason code. Positive integer number less than 65536.

-f = Force running applications to close without warning.

-i = Display the shutdown interface (GUI). MUST be the first option!

-l = Log off the current user of the local computer (default action). Can NOT be used with the -m option unless the current user has Sysadmin rights, in which case the -m switch takes precedence.

-m \\computername = Remote/network computer name (most always case sensitive) to log off/restart/shut down. Current user MUST have Sysadmin rights to be allowed to use this switch!

-s = Shut down the local computer.

-r = Shut down and restart (reboot) the local computer.

-t xx = Set shutdown timer to timeout for xx seconds. IF NOT specified defaults to 20 seconds. Allowed values between 0 and 99 seconds. The -a switch is the ONLY one that CAN be used during the timeout period.

NOTES:
The dash (-) in front of these switches can be replaced by a forward slash (/).

Spaces are NOT required to separate the shutdown command from ANY following switches, but ARE required to separate ANY switch from its following parameter(s), if any.
For example:

shutdown -s -c "Shutting down!" -t 3

tells your computer to shutdown after waiting for 3 seconds while the System Shutdown window will display text above in the Message area.

Optional: after you're done creating your customized shortcut for shutdown -> right-click on it -> select Properties -> enter your desired key "combo" in the Shortcut Key box (e.g. Ctrl + Alt + End) -> click OK/Apply.
From now on just left-click on your shutdown shortcut or hit that key combination to turn off/restart/log off your computer.

Tired of waiting for Rapidshare downloads ? or Do you need to change your IP address frequently ? whatever it is , here is the way to change your IP address in less than one minute.

STEPS

Click on "Start" in the bottom left hand corner of screen
Click on "Run"
Type in "command" and hit ok

You should now be at an MSDOS prompt screen.

Type "ipconfig /release" just like that, and hit "enter"
Type "exit" and leave the prompt
Right-click on "Network Places" or "My Network Places" on your desktop.
Click on "properties"

You should now be on a screen with something titled "Local Area Connection", or something close to that, and, if you have a network hooked up, all of your other networks.

Right click on "Local Area Connection" and click "properties"
Double-click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list under the "General" tab
Click on "Use the following IP address" under the "General" tab
Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up).
Press "Tab" and it should automatically fill in the "Subnet Mask" section with default numbers.
Hit the "Ok" button here
Hit the "Ok" button again

You should now be back to the "Local Area Connection" screen.

Right-click back on "Local Area Connection" and go to properties again.
Go back to the "TCP/IP" settings
This time, select "Obtain an IP address automatically"
Hit "Ok"
Hit "Ok" again
You now have a new IP address

With a little practice, you can easily get this process down to 15 seconds.

NOTES
This only changes your dynamic IP address, not your ISP/IP address. If you plan on hacking a website with this trick be extremely careful, because if they try a little, they can trace it back.

How to Determine if a Torrent Is Real or Fake

Determining if a torrent is real or fake can give a heck of a headache. Using sites that you know and trust can give you general information as to the authenticity of the torrent.

Steps :

Find a torrent of whatever you are looking for.
Review any information given to you, such as the date uploaded, the file size, etc. For example, if something was released on April 10, but it was uploaded on March 14, it's probably a fake or a ripped version.
Review any ratings or comments available to you. Others may have already confirmed it's status.
Check for other sites linking to the torrent. The more sites, the more chance the torrent is real.
If all else fails, you could download a section of the torrent and check it's quality. This may not work for movies and large file.

Warnings :

If you download a torrent and the file points you to a website saying you need special software, do not download or install it.
Don't run something on your computer unless you trust it. Think of it like a sandwich. Would you eat a random sandwich you find in a park?
Do not download illegal material. If you do, the MPAA can track you down and sue you. For proof, simply look at the music industry.

The Bloodshed Dev-C++ package is a complete compiler, IDE and supporting tools for software creation under the Windows (Win32) operating system. Shutdown your pc sitting anywhere in the world just by sending a message from your cell phone. lets see how the system works:

Things you need -

Outlook Express and a e-mail
A account in ‘Kwiry’
A text capable cell

Step 1: Create “shutdown.bat” and type this code in notepad as follows -

c:/windows/system32/shutdown –f –s -t 00
save this file in c drive as shutdown.bat

Step 2: Get a pop3 capable e-mail address

for a pop3 email address you can use your gmail account or if you don’t have that you can easily register google account on “www.gmail.com”.

Step 3: Setup Microsoft Outlook Express

Open Outlook Express
click on tools>e-mail accounts>Add a new account
click next,& then click on pop3
click on next and writ your user name in first cell and write your email address in second cell
write “pop.gmail.com” in incoming mail server
write “smtp.gmail.com” in outgoing mail server
now write your gmail user name and password in logon information
click more settings, and go to outgoing server & select “my outgoing server (SMTP) needs authentication”
now go to advanced and set the value of incoming server (pop3) to 995
click both boxes that says ”this server requires authentication”
now click on “leave a copy of message on the server” and then click ok,& click finish.

Step 4: Sign up for “kwiry” account

fill up all the details & then click on start using kwiry

Step 5: Setup a rule for Outlook

click on send/receive option and goto send/rcceive settings and then click on “define send/receive group”
select “select this group in send/receive” & set the value of “schedule an automatic send/receive every” to 1 minute & then click close
now click tools>rules and alerts>new rule
click start from a blank rule and select “check the message when they arrive” & click next
select “specific word in a subject” click on specific words at bottom and write “your kwiry – shutdown” in the cell
click add and then ok
now select “select an application” and click on application on bottom
now change the file types to “all files(*.*)” and browse shutdown.bat
click next & finish
click apply & ok

Step 6: send a text message to kwiry

send “shutdown” to 59479 from your mobile phone. generally you have to wait for a minute and the Outlook will receive an email and the computer will prepare to shutdown.

Method 1 :

Back up your registry.
Open regedit by typing "regedit" into the Start > Run dialog.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Policies\ Microsoft\ Windows\ WindowsUpdate\AU.
Create or change the DWord value NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers to 1.
Exit and reboot.

Method 2 : For XP Pro, 2000, and 2003 Users with SP2 Installed

Enter gpedit.msc into the Start > Run dialog.
Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Template > Windows Components > Windows Update.
Right click on No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates installations. Enable it.
Exit the Group Policy editor and reboot.

[Using the "No Auto-Restart" feature does not achieve the goal that you want. It will stop the auto-restart but you will continue to get pop-ups asking for a restart until you do. To prevent this, you need to enable "Reprompt for restart with scheduled installations", found in the same section, and set the interval for reprompts to the max allowed which is 1440. That's 24 hours. You will probably turn off or restart your computer normally during that time.]

With this option set, you will be asked only once to restart now or later. After you click later, you will not be asked again until the next day if you have left your PC on for 24 hours.

How to Avoid Being Infected With Malware (Viruses)

There are many viruses and worms out there that could infect your computer. Not all of them are going to completely destroy your data, but they are always a hassle to deal with.

Steps

Be careful about using MS Outlook. Outlook is more susceptible to worms than other e-mail programs, unless you have efficient Anti-Virus programs running. Use Pegasus or Thunderbird (by Mozilla), or a web-based program such as Hotmail or Yahoo.
Invest in some security software. You can buy suites of software, usually called Internet Security packages, that do the whole hog, such as Norton Internet Security or Kaspersky Internet Security. However, you can also choose to install them separately:

Install an Anti-Virus program. Examples of these can come from Norton, Kaspersky, Sophos or McAfee. Also available is the free AntiVir virus scanner. Make sure you keep your virus definitions updated and run a full system scan weekly.

Install an Anti-Spyware program. Examples of these are Adaware SE, Microsoft Defender. They defend against Internet malware and spyware. Just like an Anti-Virus program, keep it updated, and do a full system scan weekly.

If someone sends you an attachment in e-mail or instant messaging, do not open it immediately. If it is a picture, text or sound file (these attachments often end in the extensions .txt, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .bmp, .tif, .mp3, .htm, .html, and .avi), you are probably safe. If someone you know very well sends you a Word attachment or other type of file, e-mail them to ask them if they meant to send it to you. If they say yes, you can open it, but you might still be at risk if they are not good about running Anti-Virus scans or careful about what they download. Always scan them before you download them. Be wary of attachments with a double extension, such as .txt.vb or .jpg.exe, as the system will only recognize the extension to the extreme right, and run the file as such. Double extensions are often a good indicator that the file is malicious.
Do not use disks that other people give you, even from work. The disk could be infected with a virus. Of course, you can run a virus scan on it first to check it out, but AV programs are not 100% effective.
Do not download files from just any old website. If it is a reputable site that you trust, you are probably safe. The threat is not only from software; don't download Word documents or other non-HTML files that have something other than one of the extensions listed above, either. Make sure that you scan every file that you download, wherever it's from.
Set up your Windows Update to automatically download patches and upgrades. This will allow your computer to automatically download any updates to both the operating system and Internet Explorer. These updates fix security holes in both pieces of software.
Consider switching to a different web browser. Other web browsers (such as Firefox, Google Chrome or Opera) are considered to have much better security than Internet Explorer. Other benefits include much faster loading, customisibility and ease of use. Plus, they're both free.
Be careful when surfing. You can get a malicious script from a webpage and not know it. If you have Internet Explorer set up for the maximum security settings, you are probably safe. If you use Firefox, you can download the NoScript extension, which allows you to easily control which websites are allowed to run scripts and protects you from other threats such as click-jacking. If you ever get a window asking if you want to allow an automatic install, say "No" unless you know the site requesting the install.

Tips

If you are aware that some malware is currently downloading or installing on your computer and you can't cancel or shut it off, the best thing to do is to immediately turn off your computer by the switch, not the shutdown menu. This will put it to an abrupt stop and will not give the download or installation time to finish. When you turn your computer back on, if you have enabled your system restore then restore your computer to the most recent time period before the installation or download took place. Otherwise, run your anti-virus software before doing anything else on your computer.

You might want to consider not using Windows at all. Other operating systems, such as Mac OS X or Linux, are much less susceptible to viruses.
When using peer to peer programs to download files such as songs or videos, always remember the following:
- When downloading a song, always make sure it has a bitrate and make sure that it is a normal one, such as 128, 192, 320 etc. If you see a song without a bitrate, it is obviously not a song at all and a potential virus. Also check the size of the song; A normal song will usually be between 1,955 KB and 6,607 KB depending on the bitrate and length of the song. Some songs may be larger or smaller, but keep in mind that a song of (for example) 38 KB is either a very very short song, or 87% of the time will be a virus. Also the same with an excessively large file, say for example you're searching for "Love is All You Need" by "The Beatles", and you come across a file that is 100 or so MB, don't download it.
- When downloading video files, keep in mind that video files don't have a bitrate, if you see a video file with a bitrate, don't download it. Also, video file sizes vary a lot, so it is difficult to give an estimated margin as with sound files, but it is not hard to use common sense. For example if you are looking for a short clip, and you find a file that is 900 MB, chances are, you have either found the entire video, or you have found something that is other than what it says. Full movies usually lay around the 700 MB range, so keep that in mind when searching for a full movie. In addition, note that if you have downloaded a video and (after having scanned it with legitimate anti-virus software) it plays, but a message shows up stating that your video software is "not compatible" and that you should go to such and such site, don't go to the site, it will probably not be safe, and delete the file immediately.
If using an operating system that supports system restore, always make sure it is active before you download anything.
Be vigilant! Constant vigilance is a must in safe computing. Any abnormalities in operation, or trouble with the system, should be taken as the result of malware and should be treated as such. If you so much as suspect that your computer is compromised, run a virus scan immediately, it never hurts.
Do not panic. If you believe your computer has been compromised, and a virus is found, take a step back and survey the situation. If your antivirus software cannot remove the virus, and you do not believe you are capable of handling the job, simply remove your computers internet connection, and call a professional technician.
Some antivirus products come with a self-booting recovery disk. These often can repair infections that standard antivirus software, running under Windows, can't.
Try to balance paranoia with common sense. Some people get really weird about viruses, spyware, etc. Back up your data regularly and follow these steps, and it shouldn't be a big problem.

Warnings

There are worms that use exploits in popular programs, email in particular, to execute code and infect a system. In most cases this is the most prevalent method of worm replication using Outlook or Outlook Express.
The easiest way to avoid this is to keep current with Windows Updates, and also to disable the Preview Window.
Never click on any page advertisements or pop-up ads, these are usually very misleading and sometimes potentially harmful.
